Naturopathy is a form of alternative medicine, which employs a variety of natural treatments, including homeopathy (as well as others like acupuncture, and diet/lifestyle counseling). These natural treatments include a holistic approach with non-invasive treatment. The motivation of naturopathy is to stimulate the body’s healing power to treat the underlying cause of disease and prevent disease from appearing. In naturopathic medicine symptoms of disease are viewed as warning signs of the improper functioning of the body and lifestyle habits that are not beneficial. Naturopathic treatments are chosen based on an individual basis.
Homeopathy is a specialty within Naturopathic Medicine. It is is a method of treatment that helps all kinds of health issues. Homeopathic treatments respond to sickness by treating your whole system covering your mental, emotional and physical health.
An effective, natural and complete system of medicine, using small amounts of natural medicinal substances to support, balance, and stimulate your body’s defense system to fight sickness.
It is important that your homeopath knows about all your ailments, even if they are not related to your present illness. This is true even when your symptoms seem quite intense.
Homeopathy treats each person differently. These treatments are designed for your personal ailments, and this process is very individualized. When we start experiencing mild symptoms of our illness, our own bodies begin the process of healing and treatments help boost this natural process. Homeopaths and naturopaths do not diagnose but rather evaluate your present symptoms conditions in the context of your entire system and medical history. Overall health and well-being is achieved, because the treatment responds not only to your sickness but your entire system.
Origins of Homeopathy
Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician, introduced homeopathy in 1810. While working on Cinchona (Quinine) he discovered that if it was given regularly for some days to a healthy person, it produced chill, fever with thirst, heat waves, sweat, weakness, dizziness fatigue etc., but if the same remedy was given methodically to a patient with above symptoms the person is cured.
This observation led him to understand that the remedy, which can cure the sickness, should produce the symptoms in a healthy individual. Any remedy with this qualification has extreme effects to cure any sickness.
This was the first step towards developing homeopathy. The name of which Dr. Samuel derived from the Greek Homos meaning similar and Pathos meaning disease or suffering. Similar practice of treatment was common within older cultures like the Mayans, Chinese, Greeks, and others. It was Dr. Samuel who experimented further this practice, the ‘Law of Similar – Similia Simililbus Curantur’ (which means similar cures similar), and formulated it into systematic medical science.
Homeopathy follows this fundamental natural law in order to bring back balance and harmony in your health.
Treatment & Conditions
Homeopathic Philosophy explains that to treat any disease one must understand the nature of the disease. Understanding can be possible by receiving detailed information each symptom. Additional, one must consider the patient’s state-of mind, emotional status as well as symptoms that are physiological and pathological in nature. All these symptoms provide clues as to the origin of physiological and pathological changes in the human body, thus giving a general map of the disease.
Disease starts in the human body long before the first symptoms appear. The body is never completely clear of the disease if the origin is not addressed. Unless the disease is completely treated at the source, symptoms may persist over a long period of time.
