Remedies and Preparation

Homeopathic remedies are derived from natural substances. Most remedies are derived from plants, some, however, are from a mineral source or from the animal kingdom. The process called "Potentisation" is the process in which the most exact and effective curative power of a particular remedy is extracted.

Each remedy contains a very small-diluted amount of a substance that is very effective for a patient’s symptoms (rather than a cocktail of ingredients or substances). The individual substance is so minute that there are no side effects or interaction with other medication. (e.g.: supplements, prescribed medication). Likewise, remedies are not hard on organs such as your kidneys, liver, spleen, etc.

How to Take Homeopathic Remedies

Remedies are safe for all age groups because such a very small amount of medicinal substance is given to a patient. Generally, one single remedy is used during a treatment process, having only one active ingredient. This one ingredient will work for many conditions effectively. Remedies do not have any unwanted effects or side effects. For many people this fact is a motivating factor for their use of homeopathic remedies.

Homeopathic remedies work by stimulating your system and should be taken a minimum of 30 minutes apart from food or snacks (before or after food).

Remedies are given in pill, liquid and powder form. For quick absorption, remedies are taken under the tongue. If you have a strong food flavor or residue in your mouth, please your mouth with warm water before taking remedies. If you are taking multiple remedies take one kind first, and let them dissolve then take the second one immediately afterwards.

If after three or four minutes your remedies are not dissolving you may crush pills for a faster process. Once one remedy is dissolved, you can take another one (as directed). This process allows remedies to bypass the stomach, and for this reason they do not interact with any prescribed medication you may be taking. Except for water, you should wait 15 minutes for other liquids or food. All remedies are to be taken as directed. Do not repeat the remedies. Homeopathic remedies can be taken 30 minutes before or after your Doctor's prescription. You should avoid coffee while taking remedies.

What to Expect at Your First Consultation

During your first consultation we’ll need your full co-operation to identify all your symptoms since the final remedies selected in your case will be based on the complete understanding of the symptoms you give us. This is why we will require all the details of your illness.

Additionally, we need to know about what makes you an individual. This includes your past and family history, your state of mind, and emotional nature. We do not diagnose your condition, so "I have a migraine" is not enough information. We’ll require details such as;

  • when did it start?
  • where the location of the pain?
  • what makes your headaches better?
  • what makes your headaches worse?

Other symptoms along with the pain are significant, such as:

  • what type of pain do you have: throbbing, pounding, or sharp?

All these questions help us understand your "migraines" and guide us in giving you relief through an accurate treatment. A collection of all your symptoms is important to find an accurate treatment. We need information for your whole system, so you should give us symptoms even if you think they are unrelated.

This may seem a different process than you’re otherwise used to, but keep in mind that every question asked might have a definite meaning and significance for us. Each question is important; in that some symptoms you may not think significant may be the factor we are missing to help you receive the best treatment.

Please take the time to understand each question; and provide the best answer you can offer. Remember, whatever information you may give us is absolutely confidential, so do not keep anything back.

Note that your first consultation usually takes one hour to one and a half hours according to your case. After this consultation we will explain how we intend to work with you.

Follow-up Consultations

Your next consultation is usually three weeks after your initial appointment during which your previous symptoms will be reviewed. You should mention all the changes you have experienced in the preceding three weeks. We need not just your symptoms for your illness but everything in general.

As you progress to wellness, your appointments are going to get further and further apart. If your symptoms are changing slowly your consultations will be more frequent. If you have any questions between consultations, you may call. If during this period you have acute symptoms, please advise us as soon as possible. If your medication changes from your family physician please inform us.

If you wish to address any health problems like cold, flue, allergies, and infections you can call us to obtain a same day appointment to discuss and address these issues.
